SunBurst Light Corporation began in 1970 when its founder and present owner James Gatton designed a 12-volt, rechargeable power pack for himself. The Regular SunBurst incorporated a hand-held sealed beam, a headlight that could be adjusted bright or dim, and a walking light that shined down at the user's feet. There wasn't any lighting device like it at the time and it soon caught on, which began a thriving business. In 1974, we put 11 "D"- size nickel-cadmium batteries in the same power pack. This created a 14-volt system that was lighter in weight and brighter. We called this light the Super SunBurst. In 1977, Jim took the same 11 "D" size ni-cads and put them in custom injection- molded battery covers on a wide leather belt and created the SunBurst Eagle. Jim received 2 patents for this invention with other patents pending. This was a major innovation for our company as the light's weight was now distributed evenly around the waist. |

| Now for the first time, SunBurst not only could offer a very powerful, rechargeable, and dependable lighting system, but one that was unequaled in comfort. In 1983, we took the SunBurst Eagle power pack and divided it into two power packs that were adjoined by a coiled cord. This left the portion of your back that rests against a car or truck seat battery free. This SunBurst Eagle II was a little lighter and even more comfortable. Then in 1988, SunBurst Light Corporation introduced the SunBurst Saturn lighted dog collar. Two rechargeable sub-c nickel cadmium batteries power 4 light emitting diodes (LED's) that can be seen at a ¼ of a mile. This was a great safety device that soon turned into even a greater pleasure device. Now a hunter is able to "watch" what his dogs are doing, and by using different colors (red, green, yellow, and orange) distinguish one dog from another. 1989 brought another addition to our line of lights with the most powerful power pack ever designed by SunBurst. This was the SunBurst Eagle II + 2. This powerful battery pack utilizes 13 "D"-size nickel cadmium batteries, creating more than 17-volts. This increased the brightness of the hand spot to 250,000 candlepower. The Eagle II + 2 became our "top of the line" outfit. In 2000, we introduced our newest lighting system - the SunBurst Eagle III. This outfit is also a 17-volt power pack but uses the technology of nickel metal hydride (NMH) batteries. While a little "taller" than a "D" battery the NMH batteries are not near the diameter (about the diameter of a dime) and only half the weight, yet they have the same capacity as the nickel cadmium batteries. We promise you the Eagle III is the most powerful, comfortable rechargeable power pack you could ever want. SunBurst Light Corporation is a small family owned and operated company located in North Central Ohio. |
